I’ve received an URL via email to an online manual about .RETARDMicro$oft .NET technologies. I’m always using FreeBSD on my desktop, It’s my production environment. Through some tricks I can run some Winblows related software. I’ve visited the web page containing the online manual and I get a small surprise…
An empty web page in Konqueror!. Then I’ve tried with Firefox.
And I get a page requesting the Micro$oft Silverlight install, and I followed the link and I get…
Well, reading the Compatible Operating Systems and Browsers I get noticed that the operating system on my workstation isn’t supported. Then I ask to my self: ¿where is the portability in web applications?, ¿where is that over acclaimed run anywhere of the web applications?, how difficult is to write a good article in a standard format, such as DocBook and generate a really portable document, such as PDF or record a well compressed and portable video format.
Everytime I get these kind of URLs I think that portability on web applications is a complete LIE.

La “portabilidad” de Silverlight y .NET no son más que voladores de luces.
Por ejemplo, .NET Framework 3.0 no se puede instalar en Windows XP o 2000
Que queda para otros sistemas…
$UCK$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!
Or browsers opensource sucks? maybe xD
I haven’t tried it myself, but MoonLight is supposed to be an OSS SilverLight implementation, running on top of Mono.
OTOH, I have no idea why someone may want to use
*that* to publish a online manual, unless it is kind of interactive.
