windows installer sucks
by Daniel Molina Wegener on 05-06-2008
Anyone can use the Windows Installer to add applications to the system. Today I have gained another headache thanks to Microsfot Products. The situation: I need to upgrade to JDK 1.6. The problem: Windows Installer isn’t working.
With the Sun JDK 1.6 install I get the next error message:
Then, I’ve tried to start the Windows Installer Service and I get the next error message:
I’m getting really hatred… And then I look into the Event Log and I get the next error message:
No se puede conectar al servidor. Error: 0x8007041D
Para obtener más información, vea el Centro de ayuda y soporte técnico en http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Then I search in the Microsoft Knowledge Base for known bugs and I get this link to all possible solutions. Then I do exactly every applicable solutions to my current operating system and I can’t get the problem solved.
Again, Using the force — as become an habit while I’m using Micro$oft Wintendo — I get the goal and can start the installer service just turning on the grant access to the desktop from the named service.
Again I ask the same questions: Where is the fucking most productive platform in the market place?!, If I can’t install normally a program normally, If none of the above tricks from Micro$oft makes the installer work?!, and where are gone the past two hours loosed in these kind of tasks?!
Sorry, but here is when a claim for something really simple, such as apt-get install sun-jdk, portinstall -PP diablo-jdk and really friendly commands like Linux and FreeBSD have, not this bullshit worst thing on the marketplace about easy to use operating systems that aren’t working…
